Fade Out is the last Hip Hop album that Vee Kay will produce. Period. After a career spanning 10 years and a back catalogue that marks him out as one of the most prolific and sought after producers, Vee Kay has decided to go out with a bang.
And what a bang this is. 12 tracks of well crafted and head nodding beats that share the spotlight with the hand picked guests he has got to vocal the tracks.
Sure, it’s not all “hip hop’ by numbers, with a breaks inspired Run Trax featuring Bristol’s go to guy Koast (Durkle Disco) and Road Is Ruff, the Drum and Bass type throw-down featuring Kent mainstays Joey Prolapse & ZooMark, this is a showcase for Vee to drop as he walks off into the Hip Hop sunset for a final time.
Good To Go is a guitar lead, vocal collaboration, with Dr Syntax, Gee Bag, Samuel Otis and Sam Sure, to name a few, to send out their bars, including Vee Kay himself taking mic duties for a rare effort
Other tracks include Silent Screams and Take time which feature Wordsmiff, a return to the work they did for Vee’s previous album, “Audio Workout”and “In Pursuit Of Harmony” that brought these two together in the first place.
Chattabox features on three tracks also. “Is What It Is’ see’s Chatta going over a lovely melancholy beat, and “Millions” featuring Killamari cohort Gremi Da Muke. South Shields is a return to form bringing Dialect back onto record for Vee Kay, for Rick Fury and Chattabox to do the sand dance on a track featuring horns, vibes and strings….canny mint.
All in all this is a well rounded showcase for Vee Kay, and Fade Out is the farewell to a producer from the UK who has done enough to leave before he outstays his welcome
